Automatic Changeover Switch 63/100 Amp, 2/3/4 Phase Transfer Switch for Solar Energy System or Generator – 220V – UPS Consept
There is a growing interest in solar power in Kenya because people are looking to reduce their electricity bills, and they want to move away from KPLC. But people often want solar as the primary source of power and grid power as a backup. For this reason, one needs a changeover switch for switching between the two in case of an outage.
In most cases, electricians install a manual changeover switch which forces you to physically go and switch to Kplc when solar goes off, and back when solar is restored. This can be burdensome if you’re not around your home or business when this happens. Also, it leaves your TVs, desktops & lights off in between.
Not anymore!
Automatic Transfer switches (ATS) are the best way to ensure that you have a continuous supply of power in the same way as a UPS system. They allow you to use one source of power as your primary source and another as a backup. For example:
1. Solar Power as Main Source, KPLC as Backup:
- The automatic changeover switch will automatically & instantly transfer you to KPLC if your solar inverter goes offline—so when the solar inverter goes online again, you will be automatically converted back from KPLC.
2. KPLC as Main Source, Solar as Backup(must be installed inversely):
- In the event of a blackout by KPLC, the ATS will automatically and instantly connect you to your solar inverter in order to ensure you have an uninterrupted power supply. When the power from KPLC is restored, you will be transferred back from solar power.
3. KPLC Versus Generator:
- The ATS will automatically & instantly transfer you to the generator if there is KPLC blackout—so when the KPLC goes online again, you will be automatically converted back from KPLC.
